Sound Designer | Re-Recording Mixer | Audiographer M. R. Rajakrishnan is one of India’s foremost sound designers and re-recording mixers, whose name has become synonymous with excellence and innovation in cinematic sound. Over the last two decades, he has worked on more than 200 films across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali cinema, crafting audio experiences that breathe life into stories and deepen their emotional resonance. Born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, into a family of musicians — the son of acclaimed music director M. G. Radhakrishnan and nephew of Dr. K. Omanakutty — Rajakrishnan’s journey began with a deep foundation in Carnatic music and mridangam. This musical sensitivity has remained at the heart of his approach to sound design, giving his mixes a rare balance of technical precision and artistic rhythm.

Rajakrishnan began his career as an assistant sound engineer, quickly mastering the craft before taking on the role of Chief Sound Engineer at Four Frames Sound Company, Chennai. His expertise in re-recording, mixing, and immersive audio has made him a trusted collaborator for some of India’s most visionary filmmakers.
His impressive body of work includes a vast spectrum of cinematic worlds:
Kantara (Kannada) – An audio masterpiece blending nature, ritual, and raw emotion through layers of indigenous sounds and spiritual intensity.
Kantara: Chapter 1 (Multi-lingual) – Expected to raise the bar for realistic and mythic soundscapes, continuing his legacy of authentic, immersive audio storytelling.
Animal (Hindi) – A technical triumph that used sound to emphasise emotional chaos, scale, and raw intensity in a modern cinematic setting.
Rangasthalam (Telugu) – His national award-winning mix captured the rustic vibrance and texture of rural India.
Urumi, Chaappa Kurishu, Manchadikuru, Kumbalangi Nights, Premam, Drishyam, Charlie, Amen, and Bangalore Days – defining works that showcase his range across intimate dramas and large-scale epics.
